Totally refurbished in 2001, Son Palou sits atop an apple and cherry orchard with magnificent, sweeping views across the Orient valley. Dating back to the 14th century, the property combines new with old beautifully, the manicured gardens and terraces hinting at the sophisticated charm behind the old, traditional stone walls of the finca. With 150 hectares (that's 1.5 million sqm) the area is perfect for walking, cycling or even just relaxing by the spring fed pool, if the season is right, one can even help with the harvest! The owner Marc has devised a series of hikes that range from 40 mins to 2 hours on the private estate. Although centrally located, Port de Sóller is only a 15 minute drive away, in the other direction 20 minutes will take one to Palma. The rooms at Son Palou are beautifully furnished and include air conditioning/heating, telephone, ADSL connection, satellite TV, mini bar, safe and hair dryer. The standard twins have walk-in shower only, and the superior doubles and superior doubles with terrace have bath/shower, the suites boasting an additional Jacuzzi. Small beds for children are possible in some rooms but there are no triples. Fine cuisine and Mallorquin wines are served at lunch and dinner with a varied menu including an a la carte.
