The sleepy little town of Alaró lies at the feet of the Tramuntana mountains amidst impressive, formidable crags and ancient olive groves. Wind your way through the village and zig-zag up the mountain side and one encounters the ruins of an original Moorish stronghold, Castell d’Alaró, reclaimed by Jaime I after laying siege for almost 2 years. An area blessed with beauty and steeped in history, the quaint village is full of character and has sufficient little restaurants and tiendas for all but the most discerning.
